Xining is situated in the northeast of Qingahi-Tibetan Plateau. It is a region of multi-ethnics. The Han, Tibetan, Hui, Mongolian, Sala living here create and develop numerous flavor foods, which form the unique food culture of the Plateau. These foods are easy to cook and eat. Fukou and Mojiajie are the representative repast streets of Xining.


Sanzi

Sanzi is the traditional food of Hui and Sala Ethnic Minority. It is usually used to serve guests and the old. The custom of local people is to serve the Sanzi firstly after guests’ arrival and match a cup of milky tea.

Snatched Mutton


It is the most famous food in Xining. The mutton has a nice succulence and a special flavor. The simple and primitive style of cooking and eating gives you a feeling that you have left the mundane world and returned to the nature.


Niangpi


It is one of the most famous food in Xining. That is Gold in color, refreshing in flavor, matching with sour and hot seasoning, can be eat when you hungry and also as a cold dish. It is a year-round food.

Yogurt


Yogurt is a kind of cold drink made of milk. As a popular drink in Plateau, it is widely accepted by local people of every ethnic in Qinghai Province. Its color is like that of ice cream, the element is like butter and a flavor of litchi, sweet in sour. You will feel relaxed and refreshing after having a bowl of yogurt.
