2007 Fair
2008 China (Qinghai) International Halal Food & Product Fair
Co-hosted by CCPIT and the People's Government of Qinghai, the 2008 China (Qinghai) International Halal Food & Product Fair (hereinafter refer to as the Halal Fair or the Fair) was successfully held in the Qinghai International Exhibition Center on October 10-13, 2008. During the Fair, CCPIT and Qinghai Government co-hosted a number of business events including the China-Muslim Countries Business Cooperation Forum, International Halal Standard Training and Bilateral Business Matchmaking Meetings.

China National Food Industry Association, China Islamic Association, China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Light Industry and Handicrafts, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation, China-ASEAN Business Council and China-Arab Business Council supported the organization of the Halal Fair by organizing domestic and foreign exhibitors and buyers. The exhibition area of the Fair reach 180,000 sq.m. with 420 booths. 67 exhibitors and over 100 buyers from 26 countries and 200 trade visitors from China participated in the Fair. Invited by CCPIT, Iran and Malaysia set up their national pavilions.



In response to the food quality scandal, CCPIT concentrated the Halal Fair on the issues of quality of halal food and products and international standards, which was warmly echoed by the Fair participants.
The exhibits covered a wide range of industries such as halal food, flovoring, beverage, health care, manufacturing equipment, Muslim garment, jewelry, and handicrafts. Manufacturers and owners of technologies and brands were the majority of exhibitors. The 4-day Fair recorded nearly 150 thousand person-time of visitors. 36 contracts valued reached 213 million USD during were concluded during the Halal Fair.
At the China-Muslim Countries Business Cooperation Forum, Mr. Wang Zhanhe, President of Inner Mongolia Little Sheep Group, representing over 200 Chinese exhibitors, released the Declaration of Quality and Credibility by Chinese Halal Food Companeis to all Chinese and foreign participants. The Declaration emphasized that the Chinese halal food companies must work with the government organizations to establish an efficient safety guarantee system and a company credibility system in order to promote the healthy development of China’s halal industry, improve the international image of Chinese companies.

Funded by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, CCPIT hosted the Halal Standards and Certification Training during the Fair in Xining. Three experts from Malaysian Halal Development Corporation (HDC) made presentations on the background of halal standards and certification system, the importance of halal certification to international trade and the procedure of international halal certification. Over 100 Chinese participants attended the training. CCPIT and HDC reached agreement that proper measures of cooperation should be taken to provide international certification services to Chinese companies.



The hosts of the Fair organized bilateral business matchmaking meetings for Iran and Malaysia national exhibition delegations. Hundreds of Chinese and foreign business representatives negotiated based on concrete project proposals. Mr. Mohamed Bennis, head of Moroccan delegation, viewed that the Moroccan businesses acknowledged the manufacturing capacity and competitiveness of halal food and products in China through the participation in the fair.
A number of famous Chinese companies including COFCO, Chia Tai Group Qinhuangdao Co., Inner Mongolia Little Sheep Group and Beijing Yushengzhai Group participated in the Halal Fair. After the 2-year development, the Halal Fair has been built as the first class platform of international business cooperation. The 2009 China (Qinghai) International Halal Food & Product Fair will be held on August 6-9, 2009 in Xining, Qinghai, China.
